BioLector Pro Mikrobioreaktor

How microbioreactors for high-throughput fermentations accelerate your bioprocess development

Bioreactors in a microtiter plate format: automatable, with biomass, pH and DO monitoring, suitable for fed-batch cultivations

Scale-up is the bottleneck in bioprocess development. It takes a lot of time, drastically slowing down early stage development and thus the path to the final product. From early screening experiments in shake flasks to smaller fermenters to production scale, your processes can take days or weeks. You can, of course, reduce the time by using multiple fermenters simultaneously. But this is limited by your available space, human resources and budget. Imagine how costly it would be to run 32, or even 48, parallel fermentations in sizable fermenters …

And now imagine if you could achieve such a throughput with only two hours hands-on time.

The BioLector microbioreactors from Beckman Coulter / m2p-labs let you do just that, helping to massively accelerate your bioprocess development so you can spend more valuable time on other tasks.

This is how many fermentations you can run in a week:

10 – 50

using shake flasks

48 – 240

using BioLector microbioreactors

FlowerPlate

4 – 8

using fermenters

The advantages of the BioLector microbioreactors:

  • Up to 48 simultaneous fermentations in a single microtiter plate
  • Online monitoring for valuable data on biomass (broad OD range), fluorescence, DO, pH
  • Suitable for fed-batch cultures, thanks to continuous, well-individual pH / feeding control*
  • Automatable for complex experiment designs (DoE), sampling and more
  • Perfect addition to your existing fermentation processes

RoboLector Liquid Handling

Automated fermentations: Take throughput and scalability to a new level

The optional RoboLector liquid handling platform automatically prepares media compositions (e.g. from DoE templates), performs fully automated high-throughput fermentations and monitors all relevant parameters in the individual wells of the microtiter plate online. In addition, it is possible to make pH settings and to add inducers and feed solutions at predefined times or when triggered by online process signals. The RoboLector’s automated sampling, along with the cooling station, optimizes process monitoring and control.
